The name ‘Bowland’ derives from the Old Norse boga-/bogi-, meaning a ‘bend in a river’. While these Bowland Tan shoes don’t really consist of bendy water, they do pay homage to the River Hodder in their own unique way. It is said that Viking invaders used to use tan leather oxford shoes to wade in the river as they caught fish for supper. With their beards, spears and brogues, these Bowland vikings are often seen as the first incarnation of the modern-day hipster. Who knew?
